The Gap Year Program is a one year, full-time program with the aim of seeing young adults trained and equipped to be involved in Christian ministry and mission with high school and Universty students. The Gap Year Program is an opportunity to get hands-on training and leadership experience.

Who is it for ?

The Gap Year Program is for Christians who’ve just finished a diploma (High School, Bacherlo,…) who love Jesus, want to learn more about God’s word, and have a heart for his mission.

Why do a Gap Year with us ?

Why do a Gap Year with us ?

Taking a gap year can provide a valuable opportunity to think more deeply about the person God has created you to be and where he might be calling you to serve him.

The Gap Year Program will help to prepare you for the challenges you’ll face at university and the workplace through the training, mentoring, and hands-on experience you’ll receive.

This is for you if you…

  • Want to see young people grow as disciples of Jesus

  • Want to serve God in a hands-on way

  • Are ready to develop your leadership qualities

  • Want to challenge your faith and move forward in your walk with God

What will you be doing ?

As a gap year intern, half of your time will be spent encouraging young people in their faith by supporting GBE/GBU groups in campuses around Suisse Romande.

You’ll receive all the training and support needed for this ministry. Your main areas of work will include:

  • Visiting GBE/GBU groups and leading bible studies.

  • Meeting with the leaders to support, train and encourage them.

The other half of your time will be made up of :

  • a training day with the other gap year interns;

  • studying one subject at HET-pro Bible College;

  • meeting with your supervisor;

  • other preparation and administration activities;

  • joining in with the whole GBEU staff team activities.

Training

During your Gap Year Program you’ll receive continual investment, training and guidance, which will equip you to engage with and help transform the lives of young people.

You’ll be amazed at what new skills you discover as the year goes on !

Your training will include:

  • digging deeper into the Bible;

  • basic Christian Doctrine and Theology;

  • how to train young people in preparing and leading a bible study group;

  • evangelism and Apologetic knowledge and practical skills;

  • understanding what it means to run a ministry with behind the scenes experience (e.g. meetings, planning and administration).

Most of all though, we want you to be growing in Christ-likeness and in your knowledge and love of God. We want you to be men and women of prayer, and to love Jesus with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

Outcomes

It is our aim and prayer, that after completing the Gap Year Program, you will have a solid foundation for having a significant impact for God’s kingdom.

You will have learnt some skills in knowing how to disciple and mentor others.

But most of all, we hope that you will have grown as a disciple of Jesus through your ministry experiences, training, and times of reflection and prayer.
